Frequently Asked Questions
Answers to common questions about our services
Technical details on our CNC programming, CAD/CAM workflows, and custom machining services.
What CNC machines and controllers are your custom G-code files compatible with?
Our multi-axis toolpaths and post-processor configurations are highly adaptable. We routinely program for major industrial controllers including Haas (VF series), DMG Mori, Fanuc, and Siemens, as well as rigid desktop CNC mills. If you have specific machine kinematics or rotary table setups, we provide custom post-processor modifications to ensure safe retracts, exact tool change positions, and flawless canned cycle formatting.
Which CAD/CAM software platforms do you support?
We natively design and program across the industry's leading platforms to ensure seamless integration with your shop's workflow. Our primary software stack includes Autodesk Fusion 360, Mastercam, SolidWorks CAM, and Siemens NX. We also have extensive expertise in specialized environments utilizing Vectric Aspire, FeatureCAM, hyperMILL, PowerMill, and CAMWorks.
Do your optic cut toolpaths require specialized end mills?
To achieve the strict tolerances required for direct-mount pocket milling (such as Trijicon RMR or Holosun footprints), our G-code is optimized for standard, high-quality carbide tooling. We typically utilize 1/8" or 1/16" flat end mills to interpolate precise corner radius reliefs. Our programs include specific feed rates and spindle speeds tailored for these tools to prevent chatter and tool deflection in pre-hardened stainless steel.
How does your "Fast Machine Run" service reduce cycle times?
We aggressively optimize Material Removal Rates (MRR) by upgrading legacy offset contouring to advanced dynamic milling and trochoidal toolpath strategies. By maintaining a constant chip-per-tooth (IPT) and optimizing rapid travel vectors (G00) to eliminate wasted air-cutting and redundant Z-axis retracts, we consistently shave critical seconds off batch production runs without sacrificing tool life.
What is your process for reverse engineering 3D scan models?
We convert raw 3D scan data (STL/OBJ mesh files) into highly accurate, editable solid parametric CAD models (STEP/IGES). This mesh-to-solid conversion corrects physical wear and tear on legacy components, trues up warped surfaces, and restores exact dimensional tolerances, allowing you to confidently design modular soft jaws and reproduce complex geometry on your CNC equipment.
